New Banksy in Los Angeles?
A new [apparent] Banksy work has been spotted in L.A., near Beverly Hills, so I made sure to grab pictures of it before some philistine takes it down and sells it off to the highest bidder. This one is painted on the south side of a Robertson Boulevard building, and depicts a boy whizzing pink.
Apparently this kid really had to go, because his pink pee trails all the way up the block, ending at Alden Drive. Looks like Banksy parked his truck behind All Saints Spitalfields (a clothing store on Robertson), because there’s a huge pink paint spill in their back parking lot.
If you look closely at the pics, there’s an oval outline around the boy that looks like a base coat of paint. I was curious why this was here, so I took a quick look at Google Street View and noticed that something was painted in that exact location before the urinating hooligan appeared. I’m not sure if Banksy painted over it, or if someone else did before him, but I thought it was pretty interesting that this wasn’t the first piece of street art in that spot. Go check it out if you have time. Here’s the location.
Banksy also created the academy award nominated documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, a film about street art.
